Rogoznica is a special place, and many people from all walks of life make it their favourite summer location. Small and intimate, it is easily accessible (only 35km from an international airport in Split (SPU)). Due to favourable local climate, the area has one of the highest number of sunny days on the Croatian coast. The old city promenade is dotted with more than dozen restaurants, to suit every budget. Sailing yachts pour into the city in the evening to have their dinner; fresh seafood is provided by a fleet of fishing boats that go out every day. You can walk around the island in less than 1h and the beaches are plentiful. From gravel to concrete to natural rock. Rogoznica has one of the most generous ratios between the number of guests and km of the coastline suitable for swimming. And the sea is beautiful, clean, warm and safe. Old cities of Sibenik and Trogir are only 1/2h scenic drive away and the Plitvice lakes area is a viable overnight trip. Boats depart for Blue Cave and Krka trips daily. Whether you want to be active or kick back and enjoy, Rogoznica will not disappoint.
The "Lastin Dvor Guesthouse", one of just a few authentic houses in Rogoznica opened to guests, is an accommodation with a difference. It is an authentic Mediterranean stone house with lots of history, beautifully restored. At its beginnings, some 300 years ago, the house was only a modest shepherd's cottage. As new generations needed more space, additional stories were added, clearly visible on its facades. House is under historical places protection and is situated in the village centre, close to restaurants, the old church and only 25m from the sea. The 50cm thick stone walls and traditional way of living make even hottest days manageable without air conditioning. By large, the authentic houses have no terraces and balconies, and their inhabitants gather in narrow, shady streets and open plazas creating a "village" atmosphere. Dozens of swallows nest in the house walls and the neighbourhood, watch them in their evening hunt for insects. The Lastin Dvor is indeed a special place where you can soak up not only the sun but also the local culture.
